i don’t know if i’m the only one, but i get a little stressed out when summer comes to town. having even a few hours a week of preschool is enough to have some space and routine, and once that’s over i start to worry there will be a mutiny in our house.
i’ve been on the hunt for some good summer activities that are super simple, don’t take a ton of prep work, and don’t make a gigantic mess. sounds ideal, right?
when a friend mentioned paper cities at a church activity last week, i knew this was something i could do. easy, fun, and adorable to boot.
these paper cities are printables from made by joel. i love the simple drawings and detail! made by joel has a generic city, but also has downloads for paris, sydney, and even a road trip printable. i printed them onto white cardstock and they were ready to go.
we used colored pencils for this activity. they are easier than crayons for coloring with any sort of detail, and so much cleaner than markers.
owen is definitely into coloring these days, but he still doesn’t have quite the patience to color every detail or take his time to stay within the lines. but hey, as long as he’s having fun and being creative, i don’t mind!
henry is not quite there. i would say these activities are probably geared for 4+. or maybe girls :) henry just can’t sit still that long! but, i’m glad he tried!
after coloring, i helped them cut out the buildings, people and vehicles and fold them so they stand up just right.
now i am dying to create our own version! would love to draw up some major US city skylines– San Diego, New York, Seattle, LA or even grandma and grandpas hometown, etc. doens’t that sound fun?
go print your paper cities!
