i hopped over to facebook last night to do the rounds and thought i’d check in on the sharlie’s angels fanpage. there hasn’t been that much action going on there now that shar is home and recovering – not the play by play that there was when she was still in the hospital. for the most part they are slowly adjusting to a new life, new body, new meds, new routine. when i clicked over, i saw that ryan (shar’s husband) had posted a video. the title?
Sharlie, 6 weeks post heart/lung transplant, chasing Harrison.
i can’t embed it here, but you have to see it.
i know to most of you, this might not seem like a big deal.
but i can assure you, THIS IS A BIG DEAL.
i have known sharlie for 25+ years. i am not sure if i’ve ever seen her run. EVER. cystic fibrosis is a degenerative disease, so she may have been able to run as a kid, but i don’t remember it. i remember rollerblading in the garage where we could go ’round and ’round in small circles instead of doing laps around the neighborhood. i remember her sitting out in P.E. and being jealous that she didn’t have to run the mile every friday. i remember her frustration as a mom to not be able to run after harrison.
right before she was wheeled into the OR 6 weeks ago, sharlie’s sweet mom collette asked her what 3 things she most wanted to do with her new lungs. sharlie’s first answer? chase harrison.
god is good.
download run and not be weary.
thank you for your prayers. xo
